Each year around 1.5 million wildebeest and 200,000 zebras make a 1,200-mile odyssey across Africa in search of rainfall and grass to graze on. Beginning in the southern Serengeti in January, they slowly move north before reaching the northern Serengeti and the Maasai Mara in July. They then return south towards the end of the year. The journey involved dramatic river crossings and is fraught with danger - lying in wait for them are the notorious Grumeti River crocodiles.
