Rhotia
Valley Tented Lodge is located just outside the small town of Karatu in
Northern Tanzania. It makes an excellent base for exploring the
Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara. Tucked away on the top of a hill
overlooking surrounding farmland, Rhotia Valley Tented Lodge breathes
the atmosphere of true Africa.
It opened in 2008 specifically to benefit the local community. A portion of all lodge proceeds go directly to supporting the Children’s Home perched on an adjacent hill. Staying at the lodge has a significant impact on the lives of these children, who do not have a family to help them build their future.
The lodge is simple, friendly and offers good value for money. Guests are housed in 15 permanent tents with thatch roofs, private bathrooms, hot showers, comfy beds and even hot-water bottles at night.
