The government will
allocate Sh600 million during the next financial year for training 500
tour guides at the College of African Wildlife Management (CAWM) at
Mweka on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro.
Secretary of the
Tanzania Tour Guides Association (TTGA) Sadock Mugetta said this during a
media briefing. He said this was a clear indication that the government
appreciated the crucial role they play in the tourism sector.
Chairperson of the
association Respicius Baitwa, said the sponsorship will boost the sector
and improve the skills of tour guides and porters of Mt. Kilimanjaro
stressing that the mountain attracts over 60,000 visitors from abroad
each year.
